The Symptomatic Improvement of Metastatic Brain Tumor Patients Based on Clinical and Distress Thermometer in Adjunctive Psychotherapy

Background: Along with the increasing incidence of primary cancer, metastatic brain tumors are becoming more common. Metastatic tumor patients go through a great deal distress. Therefore, providing adequate standard therapy can alleviate patients’ clinical symptoms and improve their overall quality life. This study aimed to investigate role symptomatic treatments adjunctive psychotherapy in tumors. Methods: We conducted randomized, single-blind, parallel design without matching pragmatic trial at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital from August 2019 – June 2020. A total 30 were divided into 2 groups: (1) The treatment group which received combination psychotherapy, (2) control was given only. distress level evaluated using thermometer (DT). Data analysis carried out Chi-square test, Fisher exact’s, binominal test.Results: All experienced significant improvement DT scores before after (p=0.01). Symptomatic alleviates headaches seizures significantly by 100% or psychotherapy. Conclusions: both groups, especially for seizures. An may DT.
